Policies and Procedures

Know more

Our Policies and Procedures are integral for the integrity of the delivery of the CMX and CAC exams. They are vital to ensure our exams are fair to all our candidates. It is your responsibility as a candidate or programme member to familiarise yourself with all of them:

Admission and attendance policy

The exam will take place in a secure and proctored environment and your credentials to access the examination will be sent to the email used in the registration process a few days before your scheduled appointment. If you do not receive your credentials two days before your appointment, please make sure to check any Spam or Promotions folders in your email or contact our team through our email certification@eicom.org. In case of a non-attendance in the day of the exam, you are not entitled to any refunds or rescheduling. For more information, please check our Cancellations and refunds policy.

In the day of your exam, be present on time. If you arrive late for your examination appointment, you may be, without prior notice, refused admission or have less time to finish your assessment. In this case, your exam fees are non-refundable, and non-transferable.

The admission team recommends that you arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. If there is a disruption in your exam (e.g. technical or environmental) but you are able to continue testing, you must. If you decide to leave the examination or exam software, without facing any technical issues, we will not approve a rescheduling of your exam appointment or deferral of your exam registration. If you encounter any technical issue in the day of your exam, please contact us as soon as possible through our chat in our email certification@eicom.org and our team will be happy to assist you in your query that you might have and make sure you are able to access your exam.

Electronic Devices Policy

Any additional electronic devices such as second screens, smartphones, headsets, tablets, wearable technology such as fitness tracking devices, smart watches, or photographic devices are not permitted. In case you choose to have a mobile phone, a smart watch, a tablet, or any other similar device, on the same room you are taking the exam, please make sure they are unreachable. The use of calculators is permitted. Please note these must be separate non-programmable calculators and not calculator applications on a mobile phone.

For CMX Level 2 and CMX Level 3 exams you are also allowed to use Microsoft Excel® or Google Sheets to help you. For CAC Level 2 exam you are also allowed to use Postman. For CAC Level 3 exams you are also allowed to use Miro, Postman and VTEX documentation to help you.

Keep in mind that your screen will be recorded, and any action that violates the exam rules may be penalized under the Misconduct Policy

Cancellations, Refunds and Reschedule Policy

You can reschedule or cancel your exam free of charge up to 30 days before your exam date. However, refunds can only be made if you use the same bank account/payment method as for the initial payment. It is recommended that you reschedule or cancel your exam as soon as you know you won’t be able to make the appointment. You must send an email to certification@eicom.org to request your reschedule or cancellation.

The period of rescheduling or cancellation does not include the day of the exam. For example, if you scheduled your exam for 05/July, you must reschedule or cancel the exam on or before 04/June to guarantee your refund. For emergency situations in which you are unable to change your exam appointment before your exam appointment, such as temporary illness, injury or accident, contact us and provide your situation and a proof. We evaluate these situations on a case-by-case basis, and upon successful appeal, you will be offered one complementary sitting at our next available exam date.

If you cancel or request a reschedule 2–30 days before the exam date, you will be charged the following fees:
USD 40 to cancel or reschedule CMX or CAC Level 1
USD 40 to cancel or reschedule CMX or CAC Level 2
USD 50 to cancel or reschedule CMX or CAC Level 3

In such cases, for rescheduling, you will be provided with a separate link for purchase. After requesting your rescheduling, you have up to 60 days to pay the reschedule fee for the desired exam level. After this period, you will be fully charged for a new registration.

For cancellations, you will receive the partial refund on the same bank/account payment method as for the initial payment.

In case of a non-attendance on the day of the exam, you are not entitled to any refunds or rescheduling. If you experience any issues with the registration or payment, please contact us directly.

Identification Policy

The Commerce Management Certification and the Commerce Architecture Certification require that every candidate present a valid document of identification on the day of the exam. This ID document needs to:

  • Be original: photocopied documents, and documents presented on a mobile phone or any other electronic device will not be accepted.

  • Be government-issued: your document needs to be issued and recognized by the country where you are a citizen or resident.

  • Be valid: expired documents are not accepted.

  • Include your full name exactly as stated in your registration form, excluding accents or diacritical marks.

  • Include a recent, recognizable photograph.

  • Include your signature.

Misconduct Policy

The Commerce Management Certification and the Commerce Architecture Certification discourage, monitor and penalise any type of candidate misconduct during the exam. Candidates who commit misconduct are subject to penalties including but not limited: exam cancellations, subtraction of marks, revoking certifications (for Levels 1 and 2), revoking of the CMX or CAC title (for Level 3) and/or a permanent ban on taking any future exams. No refunds are made on the exam fees, nor are any complimentary sittings given for upcoming exams if a candidate has its exam voided due to misconduct.

All our exams are proctored. We use several tested methods to detect any kind of misconduct or plagiarism, such as utilising any type of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) during the exam, hiring someone to take the exam for them, illegally acquiring exam content, having access to the exam before the exam scheduled date and time, having live assistance during the exam, cheating, searching for information on external channels, any form of external communication, looking away from the screen for an unreasonable length of time, using non-permitted devices during the exam, not performing the room scan before the exam, etc. We have a zero tolerance policy towards misconduct or plagiarism and we will spare no effort to protect the integrity of our exams, our candidates and our titleholders.

If you are suspicious of any misconduct from CMX or CAC candidates or titleholders, please send an email to compliance@eicom.org with your report so we can fully investigate. The information reported will be received, ensuring absolute confidentiality and the appropriate treatment for each situation.

In case of misconduct of candidates working at companies contracting the exams, their name, email and the reason for the misconduct may be shared with the contracting company upon request.
The company may implement its appropriate internal punishment measures for misconduct, which are distinct and independent from those taken by CAC or CMX certifications.

Exam Software Policy

Candidates will be emailed the link to download the Inspera Exam Portal and the log-in details days before the exam. It is the candidate’s responsibility to check that their computer and environment is compatible, to test software functionalities and to raise any issues with the support team at least 24hrs before the exam.

To ensure integrity and security, all candidates will take their exam within the Inspera Exam Portal. No exceptions will be made in terms of postponing the exam, or taking the exam in a different software. It is therefore crucial that candidates make sure the software is successfully running on their computers beforehand.

We recommend that candidates avoid using a work supplied computer, and use instead a personal one. This is because sometimes corporate computers have features and restrictions that do not allow the Inspera Exam Portal to run properly. If the candidate tests the software on a work supplied computer and it runs normally, then they should be able to normally use this device.

Breaks

You can take one break of up to 10min during the exam to go to the bathroom. To do this, you will have to state verbally that you are taking a break and remain with the Inspera Exam Portal open on your computer. Please take into account that your exam time will not be paused.
